Private Home in Malibu

Five Animal Frolics Daoyin is an ancient practice developed by Hua Tuo, one of the most celebrated Chinese physicians who lived 1800 years ago. Daoyin literally means “guiding qi and stretching body.” The practice of Daoyin was a precursor of Qigong and was created to improve health and for spiritual cultivation.

This practice models movements from the tiger, deer, bear, monkey, and crane. The idea is not merely to mimic the external motions of the animal, but to internalize the nature of that animal. It incorporates many practices of Taiji, but in a more basic form. It invigorates the organs and soothes the nervous system, while strengthening and toning the muscles and tendons.

The teachings will be $150 for the full series, payable in advance at the first class.

Grand Master Su is a world-renown Chinese martial artist with over 50 years of experience; she is at the highest level of the martial arts world internationally. China has named her one of the 100 Wushu living treasures, and designate her the “Queen of Taiji”. We are fortunate to have this great master teach us this unique form which for many years has been hidden.

Classes will be held at a private home in Malibu. For further information, please email zzldian1296@gmail.com.

Tai chi is often described as “meditation in motion,” but it might as well be called “medication in motion.” This mind-body practice can help treat or prevent many age-related health problems, reports of the Harvard Women’s Health Watch.
"When learned correctly and performed regularly, tai chi can be a positive part of an overall approach to improving your health"-Mayo Clinic.
Some of the benefits of Tai Chi include:
  • Decreased stress, anxiety and depression
  • Improved mood
  • Improved aerobic capacity
  • Increased energy and stamina
  • Improved flexibility, balance and agility
  • Improved muscle strength and definition
Studying with a qualified instructor and practicing Tai Chi correctly will help you exercise in a safe and self-paced manner to improve both physical and mental health.

Master Yun Zhao will explain how to achieve the above benefits by showing you the mechanics and principles of some Tai Chi movements. You will also get to watch one of the best Tai Chi by Master Su Zifang. An internationally renowned and respected master, Master Su is recognized as "one of the top 100 martial artists" by the Chinese government.

PUSH HANDS WORKSHOP with Master Su Zifang and Master Zhao Yun

We are very excited to announce that our 1st Yi Shui Push Hands Workshop will be held in September 2011 in Hawthorne California. This workshop aims to introduce Push Hands to experienced Taiji Quan practitioners who has none or little experience of doing it.

After reviewing feedback from our previous "Thirteen Principles" seminars, we have decided Push Hands to be our next topic. Below are the details of this workshop.

Why Push Hand?
Grandmaster Sha Guozheng used to say "Push Hands is a good way to examine our Taiji Quan quality". If we use language study in comparison, learning the Thirteen Principles of Taiji Quan is like studying characters and grammar; practicing Push Hands is like constructing sentences. To check our standards, get to know Taiji Quan applications and train our skills, Push Hands is a good tool and an important step.

What's included?
This workshop will have 3 classes, and each one will be held on one Saturday afternoon for 4 hours. Master Su will teach us a total of 12 basic practice routines including single hand and double hands basics, fixed-step (static) and moving-step (dynamic) practices, as well as the "Thirteen Principles". These routines are common entry-level practices and have been widely promoted in China by Chinese Martial Arts Association.

Part 1:

* Brief intro of Push Hands, its meaning, purpose, and practices
* Study of basic single-hand and basic double-hands routines in fixed steps

Part 2:

* Study of simple moving-step routines
* Practice with different partners

Part 3:

* Study of more complicated moving-step routines
* Practice with different partners
